Getting to Cambridge

Arriving by rail

Cambridge has excellent connections to London. Journey times vary from around 45 minutes on the fast trains from London King's Cross, to a little over an hour on slower trains or when travelling from London Liverpool Street.

Eurostar trains from continental Europe arrive at St Pancras International, part of the same complex as King's Cross.

Arriving by air

Cambridge is easy to reach from the major London airports

  • Stansted: the closest airport to Cambridge, with regular direct trains and coaches to the city
  • Heathrow and Gatwick:
    • both airports feature express services to London. It is then straightforward to travel to King's Cross railway station, using the London Underground or taxi, and connect to a fast train to Cambridge
    • there are direct coach links from Heathrow and Gatwick, but be aware that journey times can be very long
  • London City Airport: a shuttle bus links the airport to the London Underground, for a short journey to London King's Cross
  • Luton: direct coaches run regularly to Cambridge with a journey time of under two hours

Other transport

  • Ferry: Harwich International is just over 100km from Cambridge. The train journey to Cambridge is around two hours
  • Car: We would not recommend any delegates drive. Parking can be difficult and expensive in Cambridge and the roads get very congested, particularly during the rush hour. Much of the city centre, where the conference takes place, is pedestrianised, making access difficult. The city is compact and a car should not be necessary in most cases, to travel between conference and accommodation venues
